Due Thursday February 8, 2024 by 10:00 pm
NOTE: This is a School Counseling Course
Must Read Everything:
Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback
I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.
Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.
The response to the classmate need to be just like this.
Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)
RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

How can technology be used to meet the needs of diverse learners in a school site?
When I was a teacher, I worked with a student who had a learning disability and could essentially not read, or could read very little, despite being a 7th grader. One way that we worked with him was by having assistive technology read instructions for assignments to him. He was also able to speak into his iPad and the assistive technology would write down what he was saying, as he also struggled with writing.
Technology doesn’t necessarily have to be digital. I also worked with a student who was hard of hearing. This was back when masks were still mandatory, so when he was in my class, I had to use a mask with a clear film over my lips so that he could read my lips. The existence of such a thing was so surprising to me, but it did make sense. I guess that’s one of the ways that we adapted to diverse needs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I wonder if English learners would count as diverse learners. I currently work with a lot of English learners, including students who are newcomers to the country. We try to encourage them to advocate for themselves and learn how to use Google Translate effectively.

How can technology be used to meet the needs of diverse learners in a school site?
The one good thing to come out of COVID is the more common use of technology in education. There are many different options for parents and students. They can choose online charter schools and private schools. Traditional Public Schools have some restrictions to online options. In our district we have one school that allows for online learning 100% or hybrid models. Also, in the compressive schools we use google classrooms that helps parents and students monitor their academic progress and assignments. School counselors post through their google classroom Aswell or their websites. Parent and students can look at resources and videos and also reach out to the school counselor through this website. Google classrooms allow students to communicate with teachers through email and messaging if they have anxiety about asking questions in class. We also have an online tutoring program that is available 24 hours a day 7 days week to support our students. Although we prefer students in the classroom sometimes student needs or family situations do not allow for in person education for these reasons I think that for some students online works well.
