– Respond to this post: Studying humanities can provide skills that can be used in healthcare such as cultural awareness, literature, and observant skills. According to Coulehan, in order to provide health care to others one must be educated enough to comprehend medicine to provide care. It is important for healthcare providers to be educated because we teach patients on illness and medications. Humanities can provide that education that is needed.
Music is an important component of my life. Nursing is a stressful career and it is imoortsnt to have outlets. Music and reading are both an escape for me when I am clocked out. Music and reading can change the mood and release stress after a hard day at work.
Empathy is an important aspect of humanities to me in my personal life and career. In order to provide care to patients one must be able to understand others to provide care (Jacobus, 2022). We deal with humans everyday who are sick and stress, it is imorfant for us to show compassion and that we care for them. An example is Carol of the Bells. This instrumental piece reminds me of a day in the emergency department. It has moments of excitement then short calm moments of peace. You never know what’s coming and it can be stressful most of the time but it’s important to show empathy to others at all time.
