Graduate Program Outcomes
In accord with the overall institutional mission and goals, and emanating from the program’s mission and philosophy, there are specific outcomes which describe the characteristics of our graduates. At the completion of the graduate program in nursing at Mount Saint Mary College, the graduate will be able to:
1.Incorporate theories of advanced knowledge into nursing practice in family or adult health.
2.Demonstrate competence in advanced clinical practice in adult health or family health as nurse practitioners.
3.Identify researchable nursing problems and apply results of clinical research studies in advanced nursing practice in family and adult health.
4.Assume responsibility for contributing to improvement in the delivery of health care and for influencing health policy.
5.Assume responsibility for contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession.
6.Apply principles of ethical decision making in nursing practice.
7.Demonstrate scholarship though the development and implementation of a proposal for research utilization in practice.

Self-Reflection Journal
Self-Reflection Journal (3 required) is a Pass/Fail Grade. The student will develop four goals to facilitate growth and development in the utilization of research as an advanced nurse. Entries are consecutive. A deduction of one-point for deleting any entry from the overall course grade and for late entries. First Entry: List the four goals in your journal on the eClass site. The goals must reflect the course outcomes and graduate nursing program outcomes as they apply to this course. These are in the NUR 5500 Course Syllabus. Each entry thereafter is to provide an in-depth reflection on how you are growing and developing in the achievement of the goals you developed You may add other goals in the mid-point reflection. Mid-Point Reflection. Do not delete the first entry. Describe areas of your growth and development and areas to focus on in the future based on the goals you formulated. You may add other goals as you progress in the course. End of Semester and Program Reflection. Do not delete first and second entries. The third reflection is cumulative. Include how you have grown within the course. Include areas of continued growth and development in the utilization of research. Project Meeting with Faculty
Meeting (Pass/Fail Grade): Students are required to meet with course faculty to discuss their projects at least once during the semester. The faculty may also request other meetings to facilitate meeting the course objectives for their service learning Utilization of Research Projects. Utilization of Research Project. Manuscript: Textbooks and additional information from credible sources are useful as you develop your project. The latest edition of the APA Manual (7th) is required as is submission to turnitin. Paraphrasing is required! There should be no quotes in your manuscript. 1. The manuscript sequence is to be followed. A one-point deduction from the writing grade will be taken if not followed. 2. Only primary sources within the past five years are acceptable. 3. Drafts and/or copies of studies that are not submitted will receive a one-point overall deduction from the grade with no formative feedback.
4. Failure to make revisions on drafts as recommended by faculty will result in up to an overall five-point deduction from the grade.
